Aralon is able to hear the voices of those in the alley while we hide, and he passes on what is being said. “Ah, Aedus what do you think happened here then?” “Well it seems that some form of Eldrige magic was used here Human Cost”
Aralon gets the sense that this is a teacher-pupil dynamic and most of the group recognise the name of Human Cost from a previous encounter. He also hears them mention the Wizards of Thay… The two men see the shrunken head and Human lifts it and speaks to us through it. “If you can hear me, you will find us on the main street; we are very knowledgeable about ancient things.” With this, they leave. Lukas passes on his knowledge of the wizards to the rest of the group. Explaining that they were part of the old kingdom long ago but were obsesses with dark magic, necromancy and the search for knowledge led them to be corrupted. When the old kingdom collapsed the wizards formed enclaves, not secret ones necessarily, they are well known. They charge for their magical services. As Lukas is speaking, some city guards come across us asking about the explosions, we are able to send them away. The group make their way back to the lake shore and the Moody Boar. There is a large crowd outside the inn al talking about the explosion in the town. Outside we come across the owner of the Moody Boar, Regis the Halfling, along with a smaller younger Halfling, Alicia. He asks us where we are from, with Vandal telling him we have travelled from Phandelin. “Ah, I have heard of a new enterprise which has opened in Phandein, the word does travel fast indeed. DrakeClaw ale is something which has not been had on many a moon. Yes, Shante, I believe there are Berovians there now. The Duke promised them refuge from what I hear. We let some of them in here a while back and some children in the town started to go missing, so we had to stop.” “Anyway – I will give you room and board at the inn for a week for 4 gold pieces if you Ferwyn friend here will provide some entertainment this evening.” Aralon, though still injured agrees to this after some rest. We question Regis about the sailor Aranar and he is able to detect why we are in need of his services. “Ah yes him, he will likely be here at some point. The Island of Nosferatu is where you're headed then? Some say they’ve seen it, don’t know anyone who has ever come back from it though. It dips into the Shadow Fell. Orcus and the Raven Queen despise each other. He takes the souls for himself, while she tries to guide them to where they should be. If you are… interested in the old world, there is a ‘human’ who has been around for a long long time. He knows the history of Draconia – Janos is his name. His manservant Giles looks after him.” Agrippiana then asks Regis about the libraries in the town, if there are any of note. “Well there is a library of the Aes Sedai, they have been here before but not very recently. They serve Her. Maybe one day you will join yourself and become a blue Aja no? I have heard of the letter to Shante…”
After this discussion, the injured members of the party take to bed to rest. Once they are recovered in the evening, Aralon hours his promise and begins to play his lute for the tavern. In the corner, the group notice a sullen heavy armoured man with long ginger-blond hair and a beard to match. Vandal, recognising that this is likely Aranar, takes a pint of his Drakeclaw ale over to talk to him. “This will lift your spirits!” as he introduced himself he notices a rather large maul beside the sailor with inscriptions of human names, they all have titles, Shipman, Lieutenant, Commander. The sailor lifts his head to answer Vandal, “Sigh… What do you want?” Vandal explains the groups desire to reach the Island of Nosferatu. With this Aranar become enlivened, “I know how to get there, I have no ship right now but I can get one fairly quickly. If you are serious about this, the Gith will know a way. You’ll find them next to the cartographers in town you can’t miss them. I am not going to miss out on this chance to put an end to some demons…” As he says this his maul begins the glow, highlighting the names engraved. “I have some vengeance of my own to deliver, I will go now and find us a ship.” With that, he leaves the inn. As Aralon is playing his lute, Agrippiana notices a man in the crowd watching Aralon very closely, she keeps her eyes trained on him just to be safe. Once Aralon finishes the song, the man approaches him, “I heard the Ferwyn’s had returned, Aralon isn’t it? I am Davros and I am also an entertainer. Listen, I have an offer to make you, once you conclude your business here in Daggerdale, would you be interested in joining me, think of the entertainment business we could run! You’ll find me in The Dragon’s Pew, please consider my offer.” Saphira is sitting at the bar when Regis addresses her, “My lady what a nice ring. I know you are trying to hide your identity but there are not too many half eleven princesses floating about. You have aligned yourself with a strange group no? But do not worry I will keep this quiet.”
Saphira taken aback by this takes off her ring and covers her fine clothes with a dark cloak in the attempt to hide her identity. Regis and Alicia lock the door for the night and the group turn in. Until next week!
