More bug bears and more from DM..

Our review begins in a dank, grim and dark hallway where our heroes find themselves in a tense stand-off with some 20 bug bears wearing the capes of the Red Brands and a Flameskull who is very much a product of the dark energy in Wave Echo Base. Vandal our dwarf ranger has cast spike growth keeping the two warring factions apart by some 40 ft. Unable to engage in toe to toe melee both parties resort to missile combat. This goes on for a bit with our heroes slowly gaining the upper hand. Unable to allow this situation to continue unabated the flameskull intervenes and casts fireball right into the centre of our parties defensive formation. All of the party take quite a bit of damage except for Mushu the Dragon Born Sorceress who has fire resistance. Vandal loses his concentration on his spike growth spell and the bug bears attack closing the distance now the spikes are gone. The battle is intense, Thrabak enters a rage but finds himself the victim of the flameskull’s persistent ray of fire attacks. The bugbear chieftain organises the battle well and soon our heroes are on the back foot. Luna the Aasimar fighter soon falls to the heavy hitting attacks of the bugbears but is revived by Agrippianna, she takes a pounding herself and then creates her spiritual guardian for protection. Taking the form of a massive bear it scatters 3 bugbears. We are reminded of Agrippiana’s betrothed 12 trees the barbarian, is it a coincidence that he follows the bear totem? The bear wraps it’s arms around Agrippiana to protect her. She then uses her channel divinity and heals Vandal, Lukas and Mushu. Aralon with his wand of protection and luck feat manages to avoid many hits and tries his luck on the flameskull. Lukas manages to maintain his concentration and is able to hold on to his spiritual weapon spell. Eventually the party manage to gain the upper hand. And with the chieftain slain and the flameskull in fear of defeat it summons 8 zombies. Mushu attacks with glee, channeling her inner Phoenix unleashing her burning hands spell on them. She laughs as the flame dance to her will. Aggripianna moves into the fray and her guardian attacks the zombies. Finally Aralon bests the Flameskull with help from a badly injured Vorn and a revived Luna. The party are badly hurt and search for some where to take a short rest. More next week.....
